Kathryn Tawse


Kathryn is the bass drummer for SFU, having previously played with Grade 3 RMM Pipe Band.

Brittany Angeltvedt


Brittany started drumming in 2002, and won the Juvenile World Championship title with RMM in 2003. Since then, she played with RMM2 before joining SFU in 2006. Brittany placed 2nd in the Gold Medal Tenor event at the 2005 Winter Storm competition in Kansas City, Missouri.

Katelyn Garrity


Katelyn began playing in the summer of 2003 at the SFU Summer Camps learning the bagpipes. She joined RMM 5 that fall learning to play the tenor drum. Katelyn has competed at the World Championships with RMM 3 in 2007 and 2009. Originally coming through the RMM system, Katelyn joined SFU in the fall of 2010.

Michael O'Neil


Mike travels from Carmel, California to play with the band. He won the Worlds in grade 2 in 2006 with RMM and in 2000 with the Prince Charles Pipe Band as well as obtaining the best bass section prize that year. He has won the Gold Medal Tenor event at Winter Storm in Kansas City twice.

Nicola Purvis


Nicola hails from Auckland New Zealand. She started tenor drumming in 2002 with the Auckland and District Pipe Band and has played with them through to the present. During her time with the band, she has won the New Zealand Grade 1 Championships twice and 6 New Zealand Best Bass section prizes. In 2006, Nicola left NZ to live in Scotland where she played with the Clan Gregor Society Pipe Band during the 2007 and 2008 competition seasons and with the Fife Constabulary Pipe Band in 2009. During these years she also returned to play with Auckland & District during the NZ competition season. It has been a Nicola's dream to play in the SFU Pipe Band and she's very excited to have been given the opportunity to play with the band.

Owen Russell


Owen came to SFU from the City of Chicago Pipe Band in 2011. He is currently in his 15th year of playing and travels from St. Paul, Minnesota to play with the band. Owen began playing at age 7 under the instruction of Joe Hickey. His career highlights include winning the North American Pipe Band Championships in Maxville, Ontario and placing top 3 in the Gold Medal Tenor event at Winter Storm. Owen’s previous Grade 1 bands include the Windsor Police Pipe Band and the 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band. He looks forward to competing with SFU and learning from some of the best in the business.

MacKenzie Webster


MacKenzie started tenor drumming when she was 13 in the fall of 2008 after 4 years of bagpiping. She then joined the Robert Malcolm Memorial Pipe Band organization a year later, and played both tenor and bass for RMM 3. MacKenzie joined SFU in the fall of 2011.
